Sweet Meadow Alfalfa
Alfalfa, ideal for young and pregnant/nursing rabbits and guinea pigs, is high in protein. Our alfalfa is harvested very young to maintain its green color and protein. Sweet Meadow recommends free-feeding hay to help with digestion and oral health. A constant supply of hay is also great for your pet's mental well-being, since grazing and chewing is soothing.

Feeding instructions:
Growing Animals-Under 9 months of age:
Sweet Meadow Alfalfa should be added daily along with unlimited amounts of Timothy hay.
Older Animals: Occasional small amounts for their enjoyment and quality of life.
Breeding/Nursing Females: Unlimited amounts of Alfalfa in addition to Timothy hay.
Sweet Meadow Alfalfa should only be offered carefully to mature small animals because of the higher protein and calcium levels.
Sweet Meadow Alfalfa hay contains higher crude protein, digestible energy, and calcium levels than any other hay. In addition, it has the fiber content needed for normal digestive functioning. Alfalfa provides the daily levels of calcium necessary for growing bones. Alfalfa is also a source of important minerals, including potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, iron, selenium and selenium.
When an animal is ill or for post-surgical animals, Sweet Meadow Alfalfa has a rich aroma and taste that can stimulate their appetite. Because it is high in protein and fiber, small amounts should be given until they can return to their normal diet.
Animals prone to kidney stones, bladder stones or calcium crystals in their urine should always avoid alfalfa.
